ACH (Automated Clearing House)
A US bank-to-bank electronic payment system, typically the cheapest way to collect rent.
Automated Clearing House is the US electronic bank-to-bank payment network, used for direct deposits, bill pay, and most rent-collection transactions. ACH transactions typically cost the operator under one dollar regardless of dollar amount — substantially cheaper than credit-card processing (which runs roughly 2.9 percent plus thirty cents per transaction). ACH-first rent collection, where the resident defaults to ACH and card is offered only as a backup, is the most cost-effective configuration for MHP at scale. Adoption above 80 percent is achievable within 90 days when the portal is mobile-friendly and the operator absorbs the fifty-cent ACH fee.
