Consumer Report

Any record from a consumer reporting agency containing personal credit, criminal, or rental history.

A consumer report under FCRA is any compilation of information about a consumer used to evaluate them for housing, credit, employment, or insurance. For MHP operators, this typically includes the credit report, the criminal background check, the eviction record search, and the rental-history search. FCRA imposes specific obligations on the use of any consumer report — including the requirement to obtain written authorization, the obligation to send adverse-action notices, and a permanent record of the user's purpose for pulling each report.
